Why This Matters
The Industry South Africa Inherited
South African construction has, for generations, kept women out of leadership and youth out of meaningful training pipelines. Boots on the ground, decisions in the boardroom — both have looked the same for decades.
We are 100% Black Woman-Owned. Our CEO has worked in construction since 2004. Our team includes women in compliance, finance, and project leadership roles. Our sites employ youth from the surrounding communities, with real on-the-job training that becomes a career — not a temporary job.

Women in Leadership and on Site
Youth Training and Employment
From the founder down, women hold real decision-making roles at Sikies. We actively recruit women into project management, quantity surveying, and site management positions where representation in our industry remains painfully low.
On site, we partner with women-led co-operatives and prioritise women contractors in our supply chain — every rand we spend is a rand that can flow back into women-owned businesses.
Every Sikies project includes a deliberate youth employment component. We recruit from the local communities where projects take place — not because it is required, but because the social licence to operate is built that way.
Our trainees gain real construction skills, exposure to NHBRC standards, and references from a fully compliant company. Many of them go on to find permanent work in the industry — which is the entire point.
